The State Water Board will hold a public webinar Thursday, April 21, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, to provide an overview of a draft proposed emergency regulation for water conservation and to give interested parties the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the staff proposals in advice of the Board’s initiating the formal emergency rule making process.
This webinar is in response of Governor Newsom’s March 28, 2022, Executive Order (N-7-22), which directs the State Water Board to consider adopting drought emergency water conservation regulations to prepare for and mitigate the effects of the drought conditions. At this meeting, Board staff will discuss topics covered in the proposed emergency regulation, including defining and banning the irrigation of “non-functional turf” on properties in the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors, and requiring that all urban water suppliers implement at least level 2 of their water shortage contingency plans.
