DWA’s grass removal incentive program was reduced from $3 a square foot to $2 a square foot, starting with applications received July 2. The adjustment allows more grass removal projects to be funded with the current program budget in the new fiscal year (2024-2025).
The new incentive amount is in line with other grass removal rebates across the Coachella Valley. Customers who live in Palm Springs are still eligible for an additional $1 a square foot from the City of Palm Springs for a total of $3 per square foot.
The DWA Board of Directors approved the change on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, during their regular meeting. People with turf removal projects currently in process will not be affected by the change.
The grass removal incentive program motivates people to transform their lawns with desert-friendly landscaping to save water, and money on their water bill.
