Desert Water Agency is hosting a free community event from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, outside our main office, 1200 S. Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs.

The 2nd annual event features fun activities for the entire family and encourages the community to visit its pollinator garden and wall art. In addition to people, the garden aims to attract: Monarch butterflies, Queen butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, bats and other pollinators.

We’ll have live music, face painting, crafts, snacks, a costume contest, infused water bar and more. The garden will be available year round for those that don’t make it to Saturday’s event.

“The Block Party was such a success last year we decided to invite people back,” said General Manager Mark Krause. “It’s a great opportunity for us to message water conservation and sustainability.”

The water-wise garden was developed as a community project. It includes more than two dozen species of pollinator-friendly plants and a 40-foot wall art installation.

Students from Palm Springs High School’s Garden Club planted the garden last year. Advanced Placement students from Palm Springs High School’s Art Department designed and painted the giant art installation on the wall directly behind the butterfly garden.

The event is free and sure to be just as fun and memorable as last year’s.

Parking is located in our employee parking lot, south of our building, but is limited so carpooling is encouraged.
