Local water and wastewater agencies, along with stakeholders, are developing the Coachella Valley Salt & Nutrient Management Plan through a collaborative process that aims to preserve the sustainable, affordable use of groundwater in the Coachella Valley.
At the meeting, participants will be provided with updates on progress made to the CV-SNMP, hear highlights from technical memorandums #1, 2 and 4, review and discuss technical memorandum #3 draft management zones and metrics to characterize beneficial use protection, learn how to track progress and get involved, and share feedback.
Development of the plan will help meet the California State Water Resources Control Board’s Recycled Water Policy, which requires that salt and nutrient loading to groundwater basins be managed on a basin- or watershed-wide basis in a way that ensures the protection of the beneficial uses of groundwater.
For more information or to watch a video of the first meeting, go to www.cvsnmp.com. A recording of the Dec.11 workshop will also be available after the meeting.
