Update September 5, 2024 – Crews will return to complete final paving repairs of the pipeline trench in the road at a date to be determined. When that time comes, work will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. No parking signs will be in effect along the street, and cars will be towed if necessary. Traffic flow will be open in both directions, with traffic control crews on site. In some cases, driveway access may require assistance from traffic personnel. Check back for updates.
Desert Water Agency is replacing several aging water pipelines throughout our system to help improve water reliability, decrease repair costs and reduce water loss.
Installation of new pipeline in the Sunmor Estates area began the week of May 13, 2024. (Please see map.) Construction is anticipated to last about two months.
DWA has hired a contractor to do the work. Please be considerate of workers while driving in the project area. Their safety is a top priority.
What to expect:
- Slowed traffic (lanes reduced) and limited access
- ‘No parking signs’ posted along the street as necessary
- Access to property to remain intact (if we are blocking, we’ll happily move upon request)
- Noise from construction 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays (no work on weekends or Agency observed holidays)
- Equipment and vehicles from Desert Water Agency and its contractors
- A staging area for equipment will be located on or nearby the construction site
- Temporary paving will be put in place before final paving is done at a later date
- Water service should remain on except for a brief period (less than half a day) for some customers toward the end of the project
- DWA or its contractors will notify customers of any water outage in advance
While we understand that this project causes inconvenience, it is an essential part of our responsibility to provide clean, reliable water to you and your neighbors. We appreciate your patience throughout the project.
