Update July 12, 2024: DWA is installing fire hydrants beginning Monday, July 15, on Ramon Road as part of its work to finalize the Ramon Road Frontage pipeline replacement project. Traffic control will be in place on Ramon Road between El Cielo Road and Compadre Road July 15 – 19. Traffic will continue to flow in both directions. The City of Palm Springs is also conducting construction in this area. DWA’s project will extend the area of the construction for these dates. Please drive carefully and avoid the area if possible.

Desert Water Agency is replacing several aging water pipelines throughout our system to help improve water reliability, decrease repair costs and reduce water loss.

Installation of new pipeline on Ramon Road frontage (not main Ramon Road) east of Compadre Road, and along Compadre Road between Ramon Road and E. Via Vaquero Road was required as part of an emergency pipeline replacement project. (Please see map below) Pipeline replacement began in March and is now complete. All that remains is work on two hydrants, which will take place July 15 – 19.

DWA has hired a contractor to do the work. Please be considerate of workers while driving in the project area. Their safety is a top priority.

What to expect:

  • Slowed traffic (lanes reduced) and limited access
  • ‘No parking signs’ posted along the street as necessary
  • Access to property to remain intact (if we are blocking, we’ll happily move upon request)
  • Roads will be open to emergency, delivery, trash and street sweeping vehicles
  • Noise from construction 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays (no work on weekends or Agency observed holidays)
  • Equipment and vehicles from Desert Water Agency and its contractors
  • Temporary paving will be put in place before final paving is done at a later date
  • Water service should remain on except for a brief period (less than half a day) for some customers toward the end of the project
  • DWA or its contractors will notify customers of any water outage in advance
  • Ramon Road frontage could be closed to through traffic

While we understand that this project causes inconvenience, it is an essential part of our responsibility to provide clean, reliable water to you and your neighbors. We appreciate your patience throughout the project.
