Project Update – April 16, 2026 – DWA will be flushing the new water main on Tuesday, April 21. The pipes are flushed to disinfect them before use. People may notice water flowing from W. Mountain View Place along N. Via Monte Vista to W. Crescent Drive. The flushing is expected to occur between 9 a.m. and noon, but the time is subject to change. Sandbags will be used to direct the water, which will eventually enter the city storm drain system. Traffic should be able to pass through during the flushing.

Desert Water Agency is replacing several aging water pipelines throughout our system to help improve water reliability, decrease repair costs and reduce water loss.

We will be conducting emergency pipeline replacement on W. Mountain View Place in the Old Las Palmas/Vista Las Palmas neighborhood area starting the week of April 13, 2026. (Please see map.) However, DWA crews may be on site as early as April 8 for prep work. Construction is expected to be complete in May 2026. The schedule and completion date are subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances, such as weather, materials or utility conflicts. For more information on pipeline replacement projects, go to www.dwa.org/pipelines.

Please be considerate of workers while driving in the project area. Their safety is a top priority.

What to expect:

  • Slowed traffic (lanes reduced), limited access, detours and possible temporary road closures
  • ‘No parking signs’ posted along the street as necessary
  • Access to property to remain intact (if we are blocking, we’ll happily move upon request if possible)
  • Noise from construction 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays (no work on Fridays, weekends or Agency observed holidays)
  • Equipment and vehicles from Desert Water Agency and its contractors
  • A staging area for equipment will be located near the project area
  • Temporary paving will be put in place before final paving is done at a later date
  • Water service should remain on except for a brief period (approximately 2-4 hours) for some customers toward the end of the project
  • DWA or its contractors will notify customers of any water outage in advance
  • Flushing to disinfect the new pipes before service will result in visible water flow along the street toward the end of the project; signs will be posted in affected areas and sandbags will be used to direct the water

While we understand that this project causes inconvenience, it is an essential part of our responsibility to provide clean, reliable water to you and your neighbors. We appreciate your patience throughout the project.
